Venus, moving backwards through Scorpio, squares Pluto in Aquarius, within a degree of exact, and the whole of this Sunday turns on that meeting. With Venus retrograde, matters of the heart are already under review, and Pluto pushes that review down to whatever has outlived its use. In practice this tends to show as feeling that runs stronger than the situation in front of it, and as a pull between holding on and letting go. The contact is still tightening, and it lands on the First Quarter Moon, the point in the month that asks for a decision.
Pluto has been in Aquarius for some time and will stay for years. That is the standing condition: slow change in how friendships, groups and shared arrangements are held together. Astrocábala reads this passage as the force behind reversals and broken contracts, clearing away what blocks renewal while keeping what has value. Venus crossing it makes that slow work personal for a day or two. A retrograde Venus brings people and questions back from the past, makes sensitivities quicker to bruise, and offers a second chance for something that cracked.
The harder direction is easy to recognise. If someone finds themselves testing another person's loyalty, wanting to steer how a partner feels, or reading rejection into a simple delay, that is Pluto's compulsive side working through Venus. A square also carries fear of what it stands for, and fighting it tends to bring the same problem round again. Pluto asks people to go with a change rather than grip what is leaving. Astrocábala asks of Venus that love turned towards something higher win out over raw instinct, lifting desire without denying it. It asks of Pluto that collapse and rebuilding stop opposing each other.
Venus is the hub of the sky today. It forms an exact sextile to Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn, the point of desire, regret and what feels missing, and both of them form a quincunx to Uranus in Gemini. That makes a yod with Uranus at its apex, the tighter of the two yods in today's sky. The quincunx is an aspect of modern practice; the classical tradition does not count it. Here a want that has met its own lack looks for an outlet through Uranus, through a sudden insight, a demand for freedom, or a restless urge to change something. Gemini quickens that and makes it fickle. Until the outlet is clear, things tend to misfire and leave a vague dissatisfaction. People can also get in their own way. Yet this figure carries within it the means of working itself out. It answers to a direct, specific step, and it can be very creative. The Venus–Uranus leg has passed its closest point and is easing, while the Uranus–Lilith leg is still tightening.
The second yod reverses the arrangement. Uranus and Neptune, in a sextile that has held for years, both form a quincunx to Venus, which sits at the apex. Its legs are wider, so it carries less of the first figure's drive. Neptune in Aries dissolves edges and feeds ideals, and Aries makes it impatient. Together they feed long-running restlessness and idealism into one personal planet. If what someone wants feels both urgent and blurred, that is this figure. No commitment before the picture clears is the sound practice.
This is why the day is heavy. Pluto, Uranus and Neptune are already bound together by slow aspects that last for years. Today Venus touches all three at once. The arrangement that shapes a generation is falling on love, taste and value. The quincunxes ask for small, discerning adjustments, not forced answers. The sky asks people to look hard at what they want and what they are holding on to before acting on either.
The steadiest support comes from Mars in Leo trining Saturn in Aries, a contact now easing. In the old tradition Saturn is in its fall in Aries, where its patience sits awkwardly with Aries' speed. Retrograde, it asks for review and slow, careful work. The trine lets Mars's pride and initiative work with structure instead of against it. As this kind of contact passes, it tends to bring calm after confusion. Pluto's intensity has somewhere useful to go here: into work with a definite shape that can absorb its full weight.
The Moon reaches First Quarter in Capricorn, squaring the Sun in Libra. In this phase pressure turns into action: old ways give way, new structures go up, and the approach is direct and firm. It is the ninth day of the half-cycle opened by the New Moon in Libra on 10 October, and the Full Moon in Taurus on 26 October closes it. Whatever was begun around that New Moon now meets resistance and has to be built properly or let go. A Moon in Capricorn holds feeling back for the sake of control.
That Moon also makes an exact quincunx to Jupiter in Leo. Capricorn's caution and Jupiter's wish to expand and be seen do not fit. The result can be a swing between restraint and overreach that lasts the day. Mercury in Scorpio, in a wide square to Jupiter that is drawing closer, adds a tendency for words to run ahead into promises or fixed opinions.
The Sun is moving towards an opposition with Chiron in Aries. That brings old hurts close to the surface. Where Chiron is concerned, healing means accepting what is as much as fixing it. The sky's overall shape is a splay. Its sharp, separate groups give the day a stubborn individuality that resists any single tidy reading.
