The Sky Letter — Full Moon in Taurus

Full Moon in Taurus · 26 October → New Moon in Scorpio · 9 November

Today's chart

This fortnight asks for a clear look at what is being held on to, and for releasing what has run its course before reaching for anything new. The Full Moon in Taurus on 26 October squares Pluto in Aquarius, and within hours the Sun's square to Pluto turns exact. The Taurus Moon wants to keep what it has, with some possessiveness; Pluto presses for change at the root. The Full Moon is the point where a cycle's work either comes into focus or shows where it failed. Here what comes into focus is attachment: which ties still serve, and which have hardened.

Venus, retrograde in Libra, a sign the tradition gives it as its own, turns exactly sextile Jupiter in Leo today. It is the closest contact in the sky and the tightest leg of the mystic rectangle Venus shares with Jupiter, Chiron and the North Node. Retrograde Venus turns old ties into a private question, whether they are still wanted, and Jupiter adds the wish to be generous about them. A sextile only offers, so the warmth counts if someone acts on it. Leo's catch is pride. If each side waits to be acknowledged first, nothing moves, and Jupiter can inflate a simple apology into a show of generosity played for applause. The Sun meets retrograde Mercury in Scorpio today: if pride does the talking, the friction is self-made; if not, the point can get across. The Virgo Moon, in sextile to both, favours saying it plainly and precisely.
