Venus, retrograde in Scorpio, is squaring Pluto in Aquarius. The square is still within a degree of exact, just past it and beginning to ease. Both planets stand in fixed signs, so what they produce holds on. Venus is what a person loves and values; Pluto presses on whatever has been kept past its use until it changes or gives way. Together they make feeling run deep and grip hard. If affection becomes a contest over who controls whom, or wanting turns compulsive, that is the square at its narrowest. Used deliberately, the same pressure gives an unusually honest look at what someone still wants and what they keep only from habit or fear of loss. With Venus moving backwards, something that broke down earlier can be tried again, and what someone hopes for in love can be reconsidered with more care.
The square is one leg of a T-square. Venus in Scorpio opposes Chiron in Aries, and Pluto squares both from the apex. The square between Pluto and Chiron is the widest leg. Venus passing through gives it a personal face, and the Venus–Chiron opposition is tightening. Chiron in Aries brings the theme of a wound around asserting oneself, and of a healing that accepts what is rather than only removing the hurt. An opposition is usually lived through other people, so the pull between what someone loves and where they feel hurt tends to surface as friction with a partner, a friend or a colleague, where it is hard to tell whose wound is whose. All of that funnels to Pluto. A T-square asks for its force to be aimed at something specific. Left to run, it tends to be felt as things slipping out of one's hands. Pushed down, it leaks out regardless.
The apex is not boxed in. Pluto also receives a trine from Uranus in Gemini and a sextile from Neptune in Aries that is within a degree, both slow contacts that hold for years. Uranus gives the pressure a way to break a pattern that has set rigid. Neptune gives it the imagination and compassion to see past one's own corner. Astrocábala reads Pluto as collapse and reconstruction that must stop fighting each other, and asks of Venus that instinct be raised without being denied. With Pluto in Aquarius, the change runs through groups and shared agreements: where an arrangement has become a cage, the pressure tends to expose it, and where it still holds something of value, the work is to rescue that. The sky asks for one thing today. Rework what is held onto, on purpose and with care, before the pressure does it bluntly.
Venus also sits in two yods, so it is the body every figure in this sky passes through. In one, Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Aries, in their long sextile, both make a quincunx to Venus. The Venus–Neptune leg is within a degree of exact and tightening. The quincunx is modern practice's aspect; the classical tradition does not count it. It joins planets that do not fit, and here it sets what someone loves at an awkward angle to what they idealise. If a feeling seems complete one moment and faintly wrong the next, this is the contact. Neptune adds its blurring of edges, where confusion and illusion can creep in.
In the second yod, Venus and Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn, in sextile, both make a quincunx to Uranus at the apex. Lilith marks desire and regret, the sense of something missing. With Venus it draws attention to wishes left unmet, and Uranus in Gemini is where that looks for release, as restlessness, a sudden urge to change course, or a quick insight. Yods tend to misfire until what drives them is made conscious: an opening goes unseen, or someone gets in their own way. Once named, the same strain turns inventive. Both figures respond to small, exact adjustments of approach rather than force.
The Sun in Libra is trining the North Node in Aquarius, within a degree and applying. The old tradition counts the Sun in its fall in Libra. Libra leans towards partnership and Aquarius towards the group, and the trine links them without effort. Astrocábala reads the Nodes as tikun, repair: work outstanding that is waiting to be done. The day offers a smooth line from personal will to what a shared cause asks of it, and the trine's own risk is ease taken for granted and left unused. A harder line runs alongside. The Sun's opposition to Chiron is tightening, and a conjunction between the Sun and Venus came into orb today, still wide and applying, so the will is being drawn onto the same axis as the T-square.
Six of the ten planets are in fixed signs, and none is in earth. Fixed signs give persistence, and also the stubbornness that can block a change already overdue. With no planet in earth, little in the sky itself turns intensity into practical form. Mercury in Scorpio shows this as it applies to a square with Jupiter in Leo. If talk swells into promises nobody can keep, or a view is defended with more pride than evidence, that is this square. The Moon in Aquarius squares Mercury and is moving to oppose Jupiter, so the overstatement tends to be felt in mood as much as in words.
The steadier current is Mars in Leo trining Saturn in Aries, easing but still in orb. Saturn is retrograde and, by the old tradition, in its fall in Aries, a sign that hurries its slow nature. Retrograde, it slows things and asks for review. Astrocábala asks of Saturn that things be built well, corrected and set straight. Joined to Mars's drive, it supplies what this fixed, earthless sky lacks: effort that keeps to a plan.
The day is the eleventh of the half lunation that opened with the New Moon in Libra on 10 October and runs to the Full Moon in Taurus on 26 October. The First Quarter phase began on 18 October, a phase read as a turning point met by acting: breaking with what came before and starting to build anew. Whatever began at that New Moon now meets Venus and Pluto's demand that it prove itself. The sky's shape is a splay: the planets fall in separate clusters, spaced unevenly around the wheel.
